Sonic begins to have nightmares and often uses his lover Shadow, as a pillow to cry on. One morning after the nightmares had started, the village was burnt down. It took the entire population of the village to replace everything. Every now and again Sonic would feel like someone is watching him. One day Tails and Sonic go on a plane ride but it crashes in Whisper Forest. Rumors say that if you go into that forest, and won't come back out alive. Tails makes it out of the forest, but Sonic didn't. Everyone sent out into that forest to look for him. One by one they all die. All except for Shadow.

He sat there in silence for what felt like forever until Sonic opened his eyes. "Shadz..." Sonic's voice came out in a hourse whisper. A tidal wave of emotions flooded through Shadow at the nickname he once despised. He wanted -no, needed- to hug his ex-rival but Sonic was too weak. So he decided on a few comforting words, but he didn't completely trust his voice at the moment. Shadow took a deep steadying breath and said, "Shh. Don't try to talk, you need rest. I just want you to know that no matter what, I won't let you die." Shadow said, gulping back tears and squeezing Sonic's hand as he faught to stay conscious. "Thank you, Shadow..." He said, squeezing back before the battle was lost and he closed his eyes, sleep overwhelming him once more. Sonic's hand went limp and Shadow let his tears out, sobbing until Rouge came in and hugged him. He dropped Sonic's hand and twisted around to hug her back, repeated the same phrase over and and over again. "No matter what, I won't let you die."~~
