As Uther calls Arthur to speak with him privately, Arthur isn't sure what predicament had occurred between him and his father. Until he gets handed a crinkled letter. The kingdom of Aeyland had just collapsed at the hands of Morgana. The letter explains that several knights are on a quest to find their King and Queen. As Arthur embarks on this journey with several knights from both his kingdom and the fallen, Arthur realizes something extraordinary. The kingdom has a lost prince. Arthur didn't die in the last episode of merlin, Merlin managed to save him and get him back to Camelot. However, Merlin has feelings for Arthur, so strong that he struggles to hide it. But Arthur has his own problems and his own broken heart that maybe even Merlin can't heal.

When Merlin shows Arthur his secret, he doesn't take it so well. He banish Merlin from Camelot and his return will be punished by death. But soon after Arthur have send Merlin away he regrets it. The next year he tries to find his friend, but fails. Suddenly he gets other thinks to worry about when Morgana attacks and she is not alone.

Merlin dies for a bit at the end of the series instead of Arthur.

The battle of Camlann took many lives, including the Queen of Camelot. As everyone trying getting their lives back to normal, The Knights Of The Round Table notice time relationship between the king and his manservant. After a bit of discussion The Knights all agree to try and get Merlin and Arthur together. When Morgana captures Merlin in her hovel she curses him. Her plan is to make him kill Arthur, but when she realises who Merlin really is, her wishes to kill Arthur pales. Now she just have to make Arthur kill Merlin. (Takes place in the episode "A Servant of Two Masters")
