She'd watch as he admired the beautiful Inquisitor, her heart aching knowing he wouldn't look at her that way. Yet, despite it all, she still chose to be close. To be there for him, to listen to him. It was hard to keep quiet, but it became apparent to him that his eyes were looking the wrong direction.

Many DAI fanfictions are retellings of the Inquisitor's experience. This is not that. I borrow the Dragon Age Inquisition setting to tell you a story about destiny, identity, betrayal, and love. Meet Maeva, a young elven woman from lots of places, an old friend of Varric's from her time in Kirkwall. He recruits her and thus she witnesses the Inquisition and lives at Skyhold during the main events of DAI. She meets and observes all the characters and dips in on some canon stories, with focus on Lavellan and Solas, and others to varying degrees of non-canon facets. Meanwhile Maeva is going through some odd changes, such as strange dreams that begin to control her during unconscious hours. Mystery and adventure, both about the Inquisition members as well as her own origin, beg her attention. This story continues past DAI, seeking truth for Maeva and closure for Lavellan, and hopefully resolving some of the issues the game left in its wake (like my broken heart).
