On September 5th, every worker in PTMC has their limits tested. From aggressive patients, cases that don't quite sit right and a mass casualty event, staff are forced to ask themselves if they're truly cut out for this. Add a woman with a futile sense of optimism and a belief in the world to end up alright working alongside one who has seen firsthand the world's inability to do that exact thing, you'd get a sure recipe for disaster. Working in healthcare is about trust, something the two of them can't seem to find even ground on if they tried. Nell had faith in the Lord to snip the string of tension between them eventually. This was all surely just a test on her restraint, and eventually Cassie would get exactly what she deserved. Cassie was sure Nell would get the reality check she so desperately needed soon enough. Something to humble that all intrusive ego she harbored and kick her onto her ass hard enough to knock a little sense into her before either of them lost control completely. They knew it well. Kaylie Kennedy is twelve years old, and possibly the least fortunate girl she knows. With her whole family lost to a car accident, she lives with her well-meaning (if insufferable) aunt and uncle, and spends every day in a grief-stricken haze, barely even sure what she's still living for. The only person that she really likes anymore is Dr Abbot, the man who treated her the night her family died, but she's sure she's insignificant to him. Besides, seeing him means going back to the hospital. The place where everything fell apart. The place Kaylie hates the most. But, when she breaks her arm one morning, her worst fear suddenly becomes unavoidable, and she's suddenly being forced back inside her own personal nightmare.
