He experienced hunger, exhaustion and pain. He felt satisfaction, joy and gratitude. He fought for his grace, and when he got his wish, he returned to nearly exactly how he had been before. Except now that he had known those emotions, it was hard to forget how they felt, all that remains now are ghosts of the things he experienced. He has forgotten hunger and fear, but some things still remain strong inside him. Among it all, he knows the feeling of loss the best now, having lost everything but the essence of how he felt towards the person he grew closest to. Castiel knows he would still do anything for the person he feels these odd things for, including giving up everything again if he had to. Maybe one day he'll understand what these feelings he has inside him means. Whether he has to figure it out himself or have help from the person he expected the least.
