Jayza is a member of the Ta'njar tribe, considered uncouth and illiterate barbarians by the Emperor and Nobility of the Seven Lands. But Jayza is anything but uncouth or illiterate. And she has a secret the Emperor is desperate to uncover. The lone survivor of a raid by the elite cohort known as the Raptors, Jayza is taken prisoner and sent on a journey that will ultimately deliver her to the Emperor's dungeons. But the secret the Emperor seeks is not the only one Jayza has. Jayza is a Desert Siren, a woman who can sing animals to sleep. Who can divert storms with a song. And who can kill with just her voice. And if that knowledge ever reaches the Emperor's ears, her life as she knows it is it over. But Jayza has other secrets as well. And she soon discovers the Emperor is not the only one who desperately seeks what she knows. Having no choice but to share some of her secrets with Premier General Tavan Enyo, Jayza finds that everything she has been taught to believe is not always as it seems. And that she cannot choose who she loves. General Tavan Enyo is the Golden Eagle and head of the Raptors, second most powerful man in the Empire of the Seven Lands and answerable only to the Emperor himself. Believing the Ta'njar are inferior, he orders Jayza's family killed and her town razed. Shackling her in the slave wagon, he begins the long trek back to the Emperor's dungeons. But disaster after disaster befalls the Raptors journey and Tavan begins to realize that Jayza is not all she seems. Having no choice but to shackle her to his side, he begins to question his oaths, both to the Empire and to the Emperor himself. And to decide how far he will go in the name of love.

[2021 WATTYS Winner] Giovanna joins a handsome nobleman to save a friend from an arranged marriage, but they discover a plot that may have victims of Venice's Black Death rising from their graves. * * * As a child, Giovanna Visconti learned the arts of bloodletting and elixir brewing from her father with an intent to simply support his work, not take it over. But when he falls ill from the pestilence that's been ravaging Venice for months, she reluctantly dons the beaked mask of the plague doctor. Vowing to protect her father however she can, Giovanna hides him away and sees her first patient--the handsome, but alarmingly feverish Matteo Barozzi. Although she successfully treats this son of a high-ranking official, in a careless moment Giovanna fails to properly conceal her identity. The only reason she isn't tossed into a dank jail cell is thanks to the young man's honor and feelings of indebtedness. The association between the charming aristocrat and the clever commoner should end there, but when Giovanna's dearest friend goes missing right after her betrothal to the Doge's son and amid strange reports of nighttime attacks, violent commotions, and inexplicable behaviors in the community, the only person Giovanna can turn to for help is Matteo. Together, they must carefully navigate Venice's increasingly deadly canals to uncover a sect peddling false cures and a smuggling plot involving the highest levels of government or risk the entire Republic falling victim to something even worse than the plague: the risen dead. "To die will be an awfully big adventure." As many as the Diggory siblings read over the line neither one of them were expecting to experience or witness death at such a young age. But it is the only line that Thea can focus on after her brother was murdered during the Triwizard Tournament. Every night since it happened, Thea finds herself with the book in her lap, her parents haven't spoken since the funeral and it's almost like she doesn't exist anymore. She was never really out there to begin with, not like Cedric but at least he paid attention to her, he reminded her that she was special, even during times that she didn't believe it. When it comes time to return to school, Thea suddenly finds herself surrounded by people. People that have never spoken to her in the six years that she's attended Hogwarts. All of them, offering their condolences, willing to lend a listening ear if she wished to talk about it, but what was there to talk about? Cedric was dead, and he wasn't coming back. She doesn't want to speak with these strangers, she doesn't want their pity, all Thea wants is to be left alone. There is one soul that can see how much the girl is hurting without her brother, but he's seen the faces she's given whenever someone approaches. George Weasley understands he can't approach Thea as he normally would with others. But all he wants to do is see her smile again because seeing Thea's distraught face does not settle well with him at all. So, he starts off small, tripping over his own feet around her, in hopes of getting a laugh. However, it doesn't seem to work until the first frost comes and while he isn't trying to fall, he slips on ice dragging his brother down with him and finally, he hears a laugh. It's not easy for Thea to heal with Umbridge coming to Hogwarts, but George has every plan to help her. This plot was originally created by @PseudoNymphadora/@kmbell92
