Sawamura Eijun, a first year pitcher at Seido High School, has developed feelings for Miyuki Kazuya, a second year catcher, and catches the hanahaki disease, a disease caused by unrequited love that makes flowers bloom in people's lungs until they eventually clog their airway and they suffocate. There's two ways someone can be cured, either the person they love gains feelings for them too, or they get a surgery to remove the flowers along with all feelings they had for the other person. In fear of Miyuki finding out he has the disease, Sawamura gets the surgery at the beginning of his second year, after hiding it throughout his first, but what he didn't know, was that Miyuki had caught feelings for him, too.

Sawamura Eijun had just turned 22 years old; it's been six years since he left Seidou and went to play baseball for the Yomiuri Giants and became their Ace. When he had just finished a match against their rival team, the Saitama Seibu Lions, a girl almost got hit by car right in front of the stadium, but Eijun acted quickly. Just as the car made contact with his body, darkness consumed his vision, and when he woke up, he returned to the end of his second year in Seidou...again.

Winter break was usually quiet and cold for Kazuya whenever his father had to work. This year he would stay at school instead of heading home. At least that was the plan.
