He's not himself after the time jump or time travel. Steve's concerned for Bucky. Bucky has to see a therapist and get better. The therapist, Augusta Spencer, meets Bucky and tries to help him. They are immediately drawn to each other. She ends up becoming more than a good doctor to Bucky. Augusta has some problems of her own to deal with too. It's with the help of Bucky, she gets over them. Also, he gets over some of his problems thanks to Augusta. In a way the two of them save each other's lives and fall madly in love!!

Family life for Bucky and Christina is a happy one combined with the trials and tribulations of raising two young sons! Along the line, they have some very happy moments with Grant and Bailey. Their friends make an appearance throughout the story, including Sam, Scott and some surprises like Thor and Loki.
