Seventy-four years has been long enough. The way of the infamous Hunger Games has been altered. No longer is every Gamemaker out to devise the worst means of torture and death for every tribute. No longer are the people of Panem outwardly tolerant of President Snow's murderous actions. Under the facade of a normal group of Gamemakers, several rebellious citizens have begun an experiment which, if it succeeds, will make use of technology both to rescue the tributes before they are dead and then deposit the brainwashed children back in time. They have to try it. No one knows what horrors future Hunger Games may bring, and the desperate rebels are willing to try anything. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names. When it was announced that the children of the Capitol would be Reaped into the 76th and final Hunger Games, a competition to pin children against each other in a fight to the death, Octavia has to learn to survive in a brand new arena where ever turn threatens to kill her. With the eyes of a nation run by those who hate on her, she has to fight for her life all the while trying to understand her own horrid past and keep her ally, the annoying and rebellious Adriana Snow, alive. Adriana Snow is the granddaughter of the man who made these wretched games. Targeted by the Gamemakers who control the Arena that will determine whether she lives or dies, her chances are not looking good until she meets the intimidating and skillful Octavia Alvarez, who, under the guise of pity for the girl who has never even stepped in dirt her whole life, saves her from certain death only to find that Adriana might not be as much as an idiotic Capitol kid as Octavia thinks. Can Octavia and Adriana get out of the Hunger Games alive? Or will there still only be one Victory?
