A poor little newsie falls in love...

Newsies: A Racetrack Fan Fiction Brooklyn, a teenager from New Jersey runs away to New York City to find a job. She is welcomed into the Newsies and falls hard for Racetrack Higgens. With help from her new friends, she finally rediscovers the meaning of family. **Disclaimer I do not own the rights to any of the Newsie characters. All credit goes to Disney. The only characters I take credit for are Brooklyn and Pat who I created myself for this story.

Racetrack Higgins was a normal Manhattan Newsie- more or less. He was Gay, but so were all of his brothers. He was Jack's Second in Command and had a rough past. He was stubborn, has anxiety, and is a good bit chaotic. Spot Conlon was not a normal Newsie. He was the King of Brooklyn, the Borough feared by most. Except for Race. (And a few others.) Said Italian blonde boy was actually a half Brooklyn, half Manhattan Newsie, as he sold in Brooklyn. Sure, Spot scared him sometimes, but not a lot. They were very different. Spot had brown hair, Race had dirty blonde. Race had been to the Refuge, Spot hadn't. Spot had brown eyes, Race had bright blue eyes. Race was strong, but easily outnumbered, Spot was strong, but wasn't easily outnumbered. One think they both agreed was that they cared for their boys more than anything and would do anything to keep them safe. Oh, that and that the other was cute. Or hot, depending on if you were Spot or Race. ~~ Excerpt from the Story ~~ "Hey, Race." Ace starts, picking up his cards every time Race passes one to him. Race hums, passing a card to Sling, then himself, and then Ace. "Do you have a crush on Spot?" Ace asks, still staring at his cards. Sling hides his smile with his cards in front of his face, stifling a laugh. "No." Race answers, his face reddening slightly as he passes out another card to each boy. Ace looks up at him. "BS." He responds, smirking. Race scowls at him, pulling his hat off of his head and smacking Ace with it, all while his face turns bright red. Ace and Sling laugh. ~~ ~~ (I do not own Newsies.) (slow updates) It's not that Y/N hates the sandlot boys, its just that they have never been nice her and she returned the same energy. Always being the target of the boys' teasing, she's never found them worth her time and energy. Y/N is childhood friends with Phillips and when the boys find this out and the surprising truth that a girl can play ball better than half of them, they have a lot of resentment towards her. But Benny and Smalls are on a mission to have her play with them at the sandlot even against their friends' wishes. After fights, betrayals, and the fate that one experiences when growing up, who will be by her side through it all? BTW: I did not create nor am I taking any credit for any of the characters or any story from the original movie only the new story line and any new characters I create :) Also this is a Y/N story and I do use ( she/her ) pronouns but you can just pretend like they are whatever pronouns you identify as :))

It was silent for a moment. The wind blowing, crickets chirping, frogs croaked. Just me and Benny sitting on the roof of a tree house. "I wanted to say im-" we both say at the same time. Look up at each other awkwardly. "Oh sorry! You first-" We say together. We look into eachothers eyes and laugh. Then it goes back to silence. "I'm sorry-" We both shout at the same time. "Why are you sorry Lyd it's my fault. I was being a bitch to you." "Language!" I laugh quietly. " Anyways it's my fault. I lied to you Benny... Saying I liked Phillips- then causing all this drama- and-" "Lyd chill out," He grabs my shaking hand, "It's ok... I forgive you." He smiles. "Lyd your hands are cold. Here is my jersey." He Takes it off his jersey and hands it to me. He was now shirtless. His bare chest... his abs... I take the jersey and put it on. I kinda smile. I couldn't help it! "But why did you lie? I mean we tell eachother everything" He asks confused. I look up at his soft brown eyes. His messy hair. His chapped lips. "I lied because..." I look up at Bennys face. All of a sudden my soft warm lips were against his rough chapped lips. His eyes widened with surprise. He started a light kiss back, unable to resist. My belly was full of fireworks. I couldn't ever imagine myself! Kissing the one and only Benny Rodriguez! Are lips pulled apart after what felt like ages. My face is as red as a tomato. Story about how a boy loses everything. PLEASE DONT READ IF ITS TO DEPRESSING I did fix the ending so it isn't so desperately sad. I found a writing prompt I loved...it turned out much more depressing than expected. It needs SERIOUS revision because I wrote it in one sitting. It has hardly any plot or good story line. But if by chance you would like to see it, here is my depressing and rough draft work.
