After HTTYD 3, Hiccup ends up at the mercy of Grimmel. Without the help of his friends, or his dragon, both who have no idea where he is, and things aren't looking good for him. Astrid and the riders are desperate to get their leader back, but will it be too late? (This is the REWRITTEN version of my old book, 'Hiccup's Mercy'. There WILL not be any added characters, except those who are warlords because I can't remember their names. I dislike my old version and find it too fast, so this is my version of it which hopefully will be better.)

Hiccup was always considered the weakling of the village, he was bullied, pushed around and beaten up by all the other teens, even his cousin and the girl he loved. but it was only until one day when he shot down a night fury the most feared dragon in the whole archipelago, the so called offspring of lightning and death itself. But when he couldn't kill the dragon he took the other option... and trained it. him and toothless were the best of friends but one day when he is chosen to kill the monstrous night mare in dragon training , he can't handle it so he runs away on the back of toothless, but only for the two to be snatched up by dragons. but 5 years later when hiccup returns to Berk, he is not the hiccup they all once knew.

It's been a month since Dragons and Vikings were brought together, now the only thing left to do is train them. Its close to winter in Berk, putting everyone on edge for food. Hiccup, the chiefs son, also the one that brought dragons and Vikings together isn't worried about the snow at all. He's usually the one to take advantage of the snowy weather, going dragon sledding with Astrid and the gang. But when Hiccup, mysteriously falls ill with an unknown sickness, Stoik's worries for his survival in the cold grow. In hopes to cure his only son Stoik sets out to sea to find the right medicine leaving Hiccup in the constant care of Gobber and Astrid. When tragic strikes, and Hiccup is now left on his own, his chances of surviving become small.

The dragons are his kin, and he will do anything to protect them, even if it means giving up his own life. 300 years ago, a prophecy was given by the gods that a human would be born with a soul of a dragon. He later bonds with it and names it Toothless. Toothless, suspects that Hiccup is the fabled Dragon Prince as their friendship progresses and decides to take him to the icy Bewilderbeast nest. Toothless does not lose his tail in this fanfic and there is ZERO, I mean ZERO shipping at all. Also Hiccups mother is not at the nest. Too many complications.
