this is a TanKana story and as Kanao falls for Tanjiro slowly, she starts to get hanahaki and as she entered final stage of Hanahaki she confessed to him, but she had to get it removed since she was already so close to dying and didn't get Tanjiro's response there for, she forgets about him and ever having the disease. shortly after, Tanjiro got broken up with, and caught feelings for Kanao, and he got Hanahaki. He was hesitant about the choices and took the consequences, which means dying.
