*Rule #1 Don't stare. It's rude and suspicious. *Rule #2 Don't look them in the eyes. It can sometimes be seen as a challenge. *Rule #3 Always remember that they're practically animals. *Rule #4 (By far the most important rule) Never ever forget your wrap at home. Four simple rules. That's all I have to follow. With those four rules I'm seen as just "one of the guys". Which is fine by me. After all, playing Division 1 Mens Hockey at the college level is hard enough, but being a girl on that level? It's unheard of. So if wearing baggy clothing and befriending the medical staff keeps me known as a "guy" then so be it. Eventually though its not enough. Boys are practically hounds, they can smell girls. And all it takes is one slip up and the whole team will know I'm a girl. But maybe everyone knowing won't be such a bad thing. After all, hockey boys are pretty hot. Well some of them. It doesn't help that my body seems determined to end my hockey career too. Everything used to be so quiet and simple, but lately everything is so complicated. Oh boy. I just want to play hockey. ~~~~~~ Warning: This book contains lots of swearing. Some of the content may also be triggering. Evanna Halls, a 12 year old girl tries to overcome her mental illnesses while dealing with bullies in school and a divorce from their parents. After a horrific accident, she is forced to move away from her normal life and move in with her dad, who became the step-father of 6 boys, making her their newest step-sister. Jayden, the youngest boy, who is the same age as her, despises her the most. Throughout the book, his backstory, along with many other dark secrets will be figured out. Author's Note:
I wrote this book when I was a teenager, during a time when I was working through a lot of intense feelings and experiences in my own life. The story reflects that period of my imagination and emotional processing. Some of the content involves abuse, bullying, and mental health struggles, and it may be difficult or triggering for some readers. I've shared this story because it helped me feel seen and understood when I needed it most, and I hope it can offer some sense of connection or comfort to others as well. Please take care of yourself while reading.
