Izuku Midoriya never actually intended on becoming a vigilante, it just sort of happened. He stayed out late to avoid his mother at night, and got to know pro hero Eraserhead as a result. He's going to try and become a pro, if not for himself then for the other quirkless kids that need someone to believe in, and that believes in them. -- cross posted on ao3 under the same username!!

After a few strange incidents happening at U.A., Midoriya realizes that he is at the center of it all. Although hesitant, he decides seeking his mother for answers is for the best. However, Midoriya did not expect that him being a wizard would be what he is told. Perhaps a (real) late blooming quirk? Maybe even a freak mutation? Nope, apparently he's a wizard now.

Swan Dive Summary The Slime Villain Incident, and the events leading up to it happen one year earlier. Izuku, broken and lost in the face of All Might's words, decides to take Kacchan's advice. But a familiar Underground Hero won't let a young life end so quickly. How will a simple right-place-right time scenario change things? OR: Aizawa Shouta saves the life of Midoriya Izuku and finds himself with a new apprentice and surrounded by a quickly growing family circle. What has he gotten himself into? When he was a kid, Midoriya Izuku was hit by an unknown Quirk. He was found a few days later, unharmed. He was gone for just a few days to the world, and he never told anyone where he'd been. Who would believe that he'd been sent back in time several hundred years to the Pre-Quirk Era? That he'd been adopted by a pair of circus performers who gave him the name Richard Grayson? That he, Quirkless Midoriya Izuku, had become Robin, the Boy Wonder, famed partner to the Old Hero, Batman. Yeah. Nobody was going to believe that. At least he could become a LEGAL hero, now.

Three years he spent on that godforsaken island. Three years running for his life and fighting tooth and nail for survival against creatures that should be nothing more than fossils. Three years of sharpening his instincts and senses into a weapon all their own. And finally, after three years, he had the opportunity to chase his dream. And he'd be damned if he let the opportunity pass him by. UA would have to handle him, ready or not. Midoriya Izuku was going to take the world of heroics by storm.

When the world ends, their only hope is to send one Quirkless man back in time. Back in his 14-year-old body, will Midoriya Izuku be able to save the world that shunned him all his life? And will he finally be able to become a hero this go around? Good thing he had time as a vigilante to practice.

• ON HIATUS • Midoriya Izuku attracted trouble. It was just a fact of life - the sky was blue, the grass was green, and Izuku constantly found himself in an absurd number of deadly situations. He was okay with that. Mortal peril was an average Tuesday afternoon for a Pro Hero like him. Being kidnapped was practically a holiday. Saving civilians as a building collapsed around him was easier than facing his worried mum afterwards. He had dealt with All Might's disappointed dad stare and only cried for two hours afterwards. A serial killing villain with an unknown Quirk would be no problem! ...but even Izuku had to admit that being sent back in time to his first day at UA wasn't on the agenda. Still, there was no-one more spitefully determined than him - he was going to make the most of it. Yeah, good luck, heroes and villains alike!
