After a joke becomes a reality, George becomes an American citizen in a way he never thought he would: by marrying his best friend. It wasn't a big deal. The plan was that they'd get married, go through the whole citizenship process, and get George his green card. After that, they'd file for a divorce and it'd be like it never happened. However, their plan and their reality don't quite line up when their feelings begin to get involved. In this particular story, George works at a coffee shop while also maintaining being an undercover detective working on the 'Smile Murderer' case with his partner; Nick. Clay, an everyday regular, catches George's attention. George sees him as a possible suspect for a moment, but it's replaced by the charm Clay has. However, Clay begins to act strangely as more of the murders happen. George, being the detective he is, notices this easily.
