"It was a shame, really. What a fabulous sweatshirt, and it was already ruined." Marla Cooper is forgetful. She fails to recall everything from birthdays to the Pythagorean theorem-- and that includes checking her sweatshirt's pockets before she throws it in the washer. After the washers on her dorm floor explode, Marla finds herself relocating to the hole-in-the-wall laundromat, Sheets, for all her laundry needs. Turns out, so does a certain black-haired boy named Haruki Ozawa, the one person Marla couldn’t forget if she tried.
