Lex has been defeated, and Kara and Lena are rebuilding their friendship, with Kara having realised she is totally and completely in love with her best friend. Kara plans to confess her feelings to Lena, but her plans are foiled as soon as she finds out about a girl called Lori. Lori is a 7-year-old girl who Lena was paired up with a few years ago as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America programme. Lena takes Kara to meet Lori, and she immediately can see why her best friend is so taken by the girl. However soon after this Lori finds out that her foster parents are moving, and can't take her with her, leaving the young girl in emotional turmoil. Lena desperately wants to adopt or foster Lori, but she can't, due to the various attempts on her life, so Kara steps up to the plate, and offers to foster Lori. or Kara fosters Lena's "little sister" from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America programme.

After a late night visit to LCorp Kara-as Supergirl- ends up spending the night with Lena. Lena finds out that Supergirl has a habit of talking in her sleep. The morning after leads to Lena revealing that she's always known that Kara is Supergirl

That's been a year ago and physically, Lena is fine, but she has a severe depression and needs someone to look after her. That's where Kara comes in. During her time with the Luthor's she slowly finds out there's a little more going on, though. Lena pauses to think then stretches out her hand. "Elena Colby." the woman takes it. "Well, Elena. I'm Kara Danvers. And if I see you again I am going to ask again." At the beginning of her third year Kara meets this new girl that has transferred to the university that people are constantly talking about, Lena Luthor.
