For two teens, peace is only a figment of imagination. All they know is the war and how it has torn their families apart and ripped away everything they thought they knew about the world. Their countries are ravaged, their ranks are thin and their resources are gone. Keith has been a slave since he was a child, a prisoner of war turned over to the market for a greedy soldier's profit. He learned the hard way how cruel fate can be and how scarce genuine kindness is to find, so he's learned not to look for it. He accepts the abuse his masters have given him because he cant see a way he will ever rise from the hell he has been thrust into. That is, until he is bought by the royal family of Altea, the very people he swore to hate, and meets a certain prince. Lance was taught from a young age that the Galra were the enemy. They were beasts, incapable of even the slightest bit of human compassion, and, therefore, they were to be eradicated. That's why they were fighting a war that turned their citizens into monsters and drove his mother away. As the sole male heir to the throne, Lance is destined to carry in the war that he hates with every fiber of his being. But when his father buys him a slave in an attempt to break his compassion streak, he meets someone who might hate this war as much as he does. The war is supposed to drive them apart, but what if it's the very reason they are brought together?

Lance stared at Keith, who looked at him in fear, his once pale skin now half-covered in thick, fluffy, purple fur. "Lance" Keith sat up in pain, "please, it's not what you think-" "What ARE you?!" Lance shouted, holding up his gun protectively. "I'm Keith! Your friend!" Keith said in a panic, almost loud enough to startle lance into switching his gun out of Safety mode. "WHO ARE YOU!?" Lance shouted again. Keith felt tears build up in his sun-touched eye, and normal eye, and he whispered, "Someone who cares about you-" He heard a gunfire. *** Hey! Nethergamer99 here..! (The beginning of this fan fiction takes place close to the end of Keith's Blade of Marmora training) Keith has just been sent on a mission to try and steal some of the quintessence Lotor has apparently been harvesting, to try and figure out where it has been coming from. During the mission, a fight breaks out, and Keith emerges covered in quintessence. Little does he know that the quintessence will cause him to change, and not in a rather good way.

*spoilers* Pain and fear. The only thing Keith felt, the only things he was allowed to feel in his first years of life. But, Keith was given the blessings of ignorance to help save him from memories soaked in hatred. He has lived his whole life unknowing of what he used to be, but, one dream has sparked the curiosity that would inspire him to pursue the memories he once had and had "mysteriously" gone missing. His Galra heritage finally comes to light, and he finally has the opportunity to search for his mother. Galra marking force him into action, and an adventure he'd never forget. Being in the Blade of Marmora only spark his interest further, and opened doors never opened before, but his separation from Voltron may have life ending effects when he is kidnapped on mission. Will Keith ever find his mother? Or will he be forever trapped in the deep unknowing?

Finally changed the name of this fic, formerly known as 'the story of keith'. Keith Kogane was never part of voltron. Instead he grew up in a galran economy and learned how to fight and fly there. Eventually he became commander of a fleet and captures one of the lions. Hmm... I wonder what could happen? I wonder what could go wrong...

They won this battle, this time... but at what cost? When the team defeats Zarkon in a battle, they don't realize they've left someone behind until it's too late. The team struggles to find Keith's location as their anxiety spikes for the worry of their fellow Paladin. Peak devastation hits when they receive a small look into what Keith is enduring, and it encourages them to work faster. When Keith finally returns, he's different. He suffered plenty physically pain, but the Paladins have no idea what mental pain he may have gone through and is still going through. They can tell Keith is keeping something from them. As Keith fights the mental abuse he weighs down on himself everyday, he also fights the flashes that are consistently pushing forward and making themselves known. There's something wrong about him, something inside him he didn't feel before. He knows it, but not what to do about it. Keith's scared, how is he supposed to fight this alone? He does not realize he doesn't have to. Also the first few parts are badly written. They were from when I first started writing.
