But this story is about the Dark Shade, or more specifically a Lugat named Vex. Vex is King of the Lugat's, a Dark Shade race of Bloodletters that are invisible to all but Dampirs, their mortal enemy. At least that's what they believe until a human girl named Bree sees Vex for what he is. Years later Vex kidnaps Bree taking her to his castle in Romania claiming she is merely a pet for his amusement. But before he knows it things become complicated and feelings that Lugat's can't have arise.
