When her sister-in-law calls her that her brother has been shot she comes back home right away to be with her family. A few months later the world ended and the dead started walking and eating people. The world collapsed and it was survival of the fittest. Her brothers best friend saves her, her nephew and her brothers wife. Thinking the city was going to be safe only to shocked when they bomb it and the dead take over. Now In a small group outside of the city at an old quarry trying to survive the best they can. She meets a lot of new people but one particular man catches her eye. He's rugged, muscular, tall, attractive, know how to survive. Only problem is he seems to hate her. He avoids her at all cost and when they do come in contact he's harsh with her. What they don't realise is they have more in common they they know. They fall for each other and hard but hate that they have those feels from the fear of rejection and loss.

On the way they met a few more people and now had a small group. She slowly grows close the the youngest Dixon brother, Daryl. When they get back from their hunting trip Daryl learns his brother was handcuffed to a roof and left in the city. But what had YN in complete shock and not knowing how to deal with it is the person who did it. Her brother was alive after she already Mourned his death. She blames herself for not double checking to make sure he was really dead or not. Luckily she has a list of rules and guidelines she has been working on as the days of living in a post apocalyptic world with the living dead to keep her busy. And it doesn't hurt to focus on a certain redneck too.
