Everyone knows the Star Sanses: they're the Guardians of the Multiverse, and protect it from Nightmare and his minions, who only want to spread chaos and destruction. They're kind, strong, brave, the good guys! How can you not love them? You can't. They deserve the world. They're perfect and selfless and precious, and must be protected at any (and I do mean ANY) cost. Not that they couldn't protect themselves, of course! It's just, the Multiverse doesn't give them the appreciation and respect they deserve, not really. But Nightmare, Error, Horror, Killer, Dust, Cross... they know how much Dream, Ink and Blue are worth. And they'll keep them safe. Forever. The credit of this story partially belongs to Stargazer_Aldroth, who created a prompt on AO3 and helped me flesh out the story before I started writing. Once, a Multiverse was born. Soon after its Creator made it, They realized it was chaotic and fragile: it needed Balance. It needed Guardians. Bonded pairs of soulmates, who would help and complement each other; the Creators decided to allow the Multiverse to regulate itself, to be independent, so They let Guardians form with minimal imput from Them and let soulmates meet each other naturally. They then sat and waited. And sure, maybe They wanted some meetings to go a certain way, and maybe They interfered a bit to make it happen, but that's what being a Creator it's all about! The passion! The drama! The parallels! When Creation and Destruction would meet, it was going to be amazing! or Error was minding his own business, living it up in the Antivoid, when suddenly he got an infestation of the worst kind: abominations! To get rid of all of the anomalies inside his house, our (unwilling) hero will have to travel across the Multiverse on a quest, accompanied by an unlikely sidekick. His journey will be long and perilous (and annoying), filled with danger, friendship, betrayal, books, crocheting, and even true love! Also gay panic. Some gay panic. Alright, this is my first fic, please be nice! There is going to be swearing, and some violence (not really graphic, at least I don't think so). Enjoy, read and review!

The Multiverse is fragile. Even the slightest shift in the fabric of time, even the slightest wrinkle, could cause everything to disappear. If one universe collapses, so do many more. But as long as most of them are healthy, the Protector is alive. The Multiverse depends on Balance. But where no Balance exists, no Protector can live.
