Robin deGray and his brother Hadrian are two young, aristocratic teens living in 11th century France. Bored with their lives at home, when they hear of Stephan of Cloyes, a young boy going around and giving mass in the name of God, they think nothing of it, at first - until they find out that Stephan has spoken directly to Jesus, and that Jesus told him to begin a new crusade to take back the Holy Land. Now, Robin is determined to join Stephan's growing army of children to conquer the Holy Land in the name of his God, so that he may ascend to Heaven - and become even more wealthy than he already is. But as Stephan's army trudges through France, Robin begins to realize that perhaps fame and jewels are not all that important in the eyes of sacrifice.
