Love has the power to heal the deepest wounds. #ElvenKingsNeedLoveToo Set during Lord of the Rings. Thranduil/OC Thranduil's not afraid to do whatever necessary to push back the darkness threatening his forest. The hands of the king have the power to heal, but will it be enough to save his kingdom...and himself? This story will have romance, adventure, friendship, angst, and a lot of dwarves generally misbehaving. Written by an author who has read ALL the books and seen the movies. Story will follow book canon, not necessarily some of the things that PJ added to the movies. Beautiful cover art by the talented Kimberly80 on deviantart.

In the Home of Elrond of Rivendell, there is a warrior known for her skill and grace in combat and by the rare color of her eyes. Mantheniel, who had also been called "flame of the dragon" had spent her life training to become a warrior to protect the people she loved. Haunted by the past -despite her name and reputation, she had a fear of fire; for her city had burned to ash when she was a child. The fire took the lives of all those she loved. She had been found by Lord Ellithoir, the captain of the Kings guard of Rivendell. With Lord Elrond's help, she had found a new home in Rivendell working under the watchful eyes of Elrond and trained with Ellithior. Almost two centuries have passed, before she was named second in command by Lord Elrond himself. By then, everyone knew of the flaming haired Elleth who survived dragon fire. [A Wattpad FEATURED story!] She's been King Thranduil's close friend for a long time. But when a shocking rumor about his past comes to light, it shakes her entire world. How well does she really know him? With the threat of war and an uncertain future for the Woodland Realm, her comfortable life is changing forever, and so are her feelings for her friend. A story about second chances with eventual romance. Set during the events of the Lord of the Rings. Thranduil/OC Disclaimer: Everything belongs to Tolkien except for my characters. A/N: It was before Christmas 2014 when I first watched BBC's Emma with Romola Garai (wonderful, by the way - watch it if you haven't). A few days later I went to see The Hobbit BOTFA on its opening night. It was during a car trip from a family Christmas party when I came up with idea for this story. And while it doesn't follow the Jane Austen classic completely (Thranduil is no Mr. Knightley!), it was certainly inspired by it. I enjoyed the challenge. Check out the FB page for the story: facebook.com/StarsofVardafanpage/ (thanks to @MaggieShivers for creating it and running it!)
