Marinette struggles to stay happy nowadays, but what better way to change your mood than with a change of location? Adrien gave up his miraculous so he could start fresh. After all, his dad was in prison for being the super villain Hawkmoth and his other caretaker Nathalie died from over use of a broken Miraculous. So, now Marinette is the guardian of the miraculous. Will her bullies lies get exposed? Will she find love in the most dangerous city in the world? Will she find out the identities of Gotham's heroes? The akuma class wins a trip to Gotham where they get to live with the Waynes for two weeks. Marinette meets two boys who make a plan to expose Lila and help her become friends with her class again. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is done. Done with the lies, done with Hawkmoth, done with her class, done with being forced to react instead of taking action- enough is enough. Marinette rededicates herself, focusing on her duties as Guardian, Ladybug, and a student, working hard to tie up loose ends. When Ladybug defeats Hawkmoth, she feels the weight of the world lift off her shoulders. Free to leave Paris and her class behind, applies to a new school. Her parents hugged her when they got the call. The Dupain-Cheng's waste no time, they pack their bags, lease the bakery, and move to Gotham, New Jersey. There, Marinette gets a fresh start in a new school. Marinette can be who she wants to be without worrying about lying bullies... But it wouldn't hurt to be careful- would it? The Parisian holds everyone at arm's length, not worrying about swaggering, haughty classmates as she focuses on keeping her head down- until she meets Damian Wayne. Damian Wayne is not jealous of the smart, likable, reserved- but still excitable Parisian that he shares almost every class with. He isn't. He refuses to deal with such a naïve and substanceless girl- until she corrects him in class. Damian gets payback, correcting her as he sees fit. He refuses to lose to such an unworthy opponent. She will not win. Marinette is more than prepared to stand her ground.
