A few years after meeting, profiler Malcolm Bright and detective Dani Powell finally become a couple and had two twin daughters. Fourteen years go by without any problems until one day while walking to the Whitley residence. One of the girls was kidnapped. Months went by without any clue where the kidnapper took of taken the girl too or if she was even still alive. Then out of the blue one day, the Brights get a call from a stranger that might be the breakthrough they were looking for.

After finishing a murder case that had taken a bit longer than they were used to, Dani went over to Malcolm's loft for some celebratory hot cocoa. While Dani was at Malcolm's loft though, a massive snowstorm hit, trapping Dani and Malcolm in Malcolm's loft together.
