Ian and Lea grew up together as best friends which means that nobody can tolerate his philanderings and asshole tendencies except her (she's not shy to call him out on his shit too) and nobody can tolerate her temper and attitude except him. It's the two of them against the world so when a baby is dropped at Ian's doorstep, the first logical thing for him to do is call Lea. From two, it's going to be three, a manchild daddy, a bitch "mommy", and one little cute baby.

He never wanted to keep Aya's mom unknown to his daughter. She is still her biological mom. She conceived Aya. She gave Aya's name. But, everytime he looked at his daughter and remembered that he almost lost her because of her own Mom, it makes him think that it's better to keep her out of Aya's life. Everything is fine the way they are right now. Aya is smart but there is still an innocent child dwelling inside her. And he doesn't want to lose that innocence if she knew about what her Mom did. Well, he has no plans of telling Aya what she really did because that would terrify his kid. After all, how is he going to say to his daughter that her Mom was an addict? Literal addict.
