However, her madness escalates to the point of pushing everyone she loves away, including him. Everything falls apart once she stares face-to-face with Douma himself. As a person that has experienced loss more than once, he does everything he can to pull her out of her own insanity. He couldn't let her end up like him. Emotionless, alone, and most of all, empty.

Giyuu is deciding to leave so he can make all of the Hashira's feel happy for his riddance, but at the same time he doesn't, he begins to try to get along with his members, including the one who bothers him a lot, Shinobu Kocho.
