"You're just like me," Enzo explains. "Strong tempered, but weak. Intelligent and strong minded, but messy in here-" He lifted one of her wrists slightly, so that he could use her hand to tap on her own head, right on her temple. "You're stubborn and like to put up a fight and play hard to get. You think I don't know you, Lyla? I know you like the back of my hand. I know you, and you're exactly like me."
"Enzo, please," Lyla begged, becoming undone as she lost control over her facade. She wanted to be strong and intimidate him, but it didn't work out because he saw right through her and knew what to say to destroy her. "Stop."
Enzo didn't say anything for a long time, but he loosened his grip on Lyla. Ever so slightly, he let go of her until his fingers were brushing against the skin of her arms, barely even touching. He looked a lot more relaxed, but the tension between them was still there, especially because Lyla couldn't stop crying silently.
"That's why we're so compatible," Enzo added in a low whisper. "Because we're so alike one another. I understand your feelings towards your mother's death and even if you don't want to talk about it, you have to. Please, reina."
It was so twisted how he managed to say the right words to convince her. Lyla hated him, but at the same time, she was intrigued by him. Why were they so alike? And why was he so frightening, yet gentle?
