When Bondita first felt love, it was to her Pati Babu -- the one she had gotten entangled in a marriage with as a twist of fate. However, he was out of her league. She pushed away all her thoughts of wanting him. All the dreams that she would crave for. All the affection she wanted... She let all of that go. So Bondita went on to follow the course of a normal life. The life that he always wanted for her. The life that she knew she had to compromise with, and find happiness in. After all... How could she possibly dream of someone who was out of bounds? And Anirudh... her Pati Babu? He was eleven years older than her... What would he feel for the young one he had married, only to save her life? (Story is based on the show Barrister Babu set in the 1930s, but you won't have had to watch the show to understand this book. There will be some plot variations, and I will explain things in the chapters.)

Anirudh Roy Chawdhury, a London return young Barrister whose heart was filled with the fire of revolution whereas his eyes were reflecting his dream to bring a change in Indian women's life. Bondita Roy Chawdhury, a little girl of 12 years old living with her widow mother in her maternal uncle's home. This talkative munchkin never became tired in asking questions whenever she found something wrong or something which didn't fit in her little mind. She was like an inborn Barrister. But this cruel society didn't leave her too and hitched her to marry a old man in unconscious state and tried to make her sati when the old man died. But Anirudh came and rescued her from being sati by marrying her. But the society started playing their evil game when this girl hit puberty by washing her brain with wrong things and diverting her mind from studies. Anirudh revealed the truth of their marriage in front of Bondita in anger in their first marriage anniversary.When Anirudh married Manorama in order to bring Bondita's interest in study again and to make her independent in all respect, it broke both of them completely from inside.
