The Stars In Our Sky

A conflicting, dramatic, and confusing love story between two young boys. "The Stars In Our Sky" follows the relationship between Aleksandr Navrátil and Julian Santos-Morales, two boys in their late sophomore year of high school who have to navigate school, love, and identity.
About the characters:
Aleksandr Navrátil is an American boy born to Czech parents. Born in Houston, Texas, he spent a good portion of his life 'back home' in Prague, Czechia. His parents, like many Czechs, are less religious and are more progressive and open-minded. They support their son being gay and had known he liked boys from a young age. Aleksandr comes from a well-off family. His mother works as a chef at a local 'high-end' restaurant, while his dad owns a small tailor business.
Julian Santos-Morales is a Guatemalen-American boy who was born in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala. He moved with his parents and two siblings to the US when he was nine. His parents are devout Catholics and do not support gay people, but aren't outwardly homophobic. For this reason, Julian cannot be open about his sexuality, which leads to a lot of internalized homophobia. Julian's family is not as wealthy, but they get by. His father is a roofer, and his mother works as an Elder Care assistant.
About the Author, and the inspiration:

He is the inspiration for the character Aleksandr. He comes from an upper-middle-class family and his father owns a small business, like Aleksandr's father. His family is Jewish and Catholic but is accepting and open-minded. The character Julian is inspired by Petrowski's past relationships. Petrowski recalls throughout high school his relationships with many Bi-questioning, Latino men, and how hard it was for him and for the boys he was with. He recalls how toxic, and secretive the relationships wer
