Tommy had never been given the opportunity to decide his gender. It's not that he was never allowed to or anything like that, all of his family and friends were very supportive, and when his nephew Fundy came out as trans everyone happily approved. Tommy had never felt right, but--didn't know why. The option of being trans was just never shown to him, so he assumed it had nothing to do with that and just got used to being a 'him'. Fighting in wars for a country literally called L'MANberg, being called Big MAN by everyone and getting used to calling himself that, etc etc. Tommy thought that was just how it was supposed to be and he didn't get an option. That is, until one special day in exile.
