BOOK 2 OF THE ANCHOR SERIES Waves makes for an unsteady sea, really. Depending on the wind and the pressure, waves either lay peacefully against the sand, its current slow and steady, or crash onto the shore. There's no way to predict which way the wind will blow, there's no way to know how strong the waves will be. When the wind blows hard, when the waves are aggressive, the only thing you can do is hold on and hope you'll be strong enough not to let go. Hope that although there's no way to predict how strong the waves will be, you'll always be stronger than them, hope that through everything, you won't drown. Waves, they come and they go, and sometimes, when they hit the shore, they destroy sandcastles.

There's three things you should know about Harry: 1. When we were in ninth grade his biggest aspiration in life was to start a punk ukulele band. 2. Once I made him a bracelet with plastic beads that didn't have a pattern in the slightest, and he wore it for years until the pink string holding it together couldn't take any more wear and tear. 3. He's been my neighbor for more than half my life, and that hasn't changed now that we're in college. There's three things you should know about me: 1. I'm banned from the putt putt golf course in my hometown... but that's actually Harry's fault. 2. I'm not a fan of math, but I'm good at it, which has turned into a constant battle in my head. 3. I'm not about to fall in love with my best friend. I'm not.

©martomlin All rights reserved Dead Flowers January 2018 Completed (under lazy reconstruction) - - Jane Hughes is an eighteen-year-old girl that is about to dive head-first into the blood-thirty jaws of womanhood. Plagued with a mother that resents her youth, a disinterested father, and an impetuous ex-fiancee that's never been told no, she is on the cusp of change. She's certain her days will be spent with her unfathomably gorgeous best friend in the tiny music shop where they work. Then there's Harry. He's graceful, intense, handsome. He waltzes into her world carefully, one boot-clad foot in front of the other. They fall hard and fast for another, hardly having time to brace themselves for the initial impact. Harry nudges her toward a revolution outside of peace rallies and Vietnam protests, one that is gritty, insatiable, and tangible. Set against the backdrop of the violent, decadent early 1970's in North America, Jane navigates her path with uncertain boldness.

Art is a form of communication. Whether it is through music, through writing or through painting, every note you play, every word you write and every drop of paint you put on the canvas displays an emotion. For many, it is also a form of relief, a way to say everything you wish you'd say and a way to escape everything. Some paint on a daily basis, other paint on impulse. Annabelle Snow paints on impulse. To her, it is the way to paint. It shows what you truly feel, although sometimes it may reveal things you would rather forget. This is the story of a girl passionate about art, who had her fair share of misery and was left bitter by it.
