Sixteen-year-old Sage Greene was locked in a maximum-security asylum for the criminally insane after murdering nearly 200 civilians. It isn't her, though - it's the voices. There are two sides to Sage: the normal, self-conscious teenager, and the Voice lurking inside her head, the one that forced her to strike out and kill. Now, both parts of Sage are being sent into space, destined for a new rehabilitation program upon Mars, with a group of the most dangerous teenagers in America. Before they can reach the red planet, however, they are abducted by a strange alien race and taken away from their spaceship and everything they have ever known to compete in a sadistic set of physical and mental tests nicknamed the Trials. And so far, nobody has survived the Trials. * {Highest ranking: #5 in science fiction as of 9/3/17} [Comment threads contain spoilers at random. You have been warned.] WARNING This is a very dark book that only spirals further down. Murder is discussed and there are slightly graphic scenes.

The year is 1879. When thirteen-year-old Ruth Merritt Holbrook emerges from her family's burning estate, bloody and charred, but entirely numb--She makes headlines. Reporters believe she is deranged. They accuse her of having set the fire. All the headlines read: "UNSUSPECTING FAMILY SLAIN BY DERANGED DAUGHTER." Everyone believes it. How else could a highbred girl exit a burning building, injured yet senseless? Why did she not scream or cry? The police tell her she is a killer. The doctors tell her she is mad. The nuns at St. Agatha's tell her she is possessed. Perhaps, Ruth Merritt Holbrook is all of those things-or perhaps she is much more. Mysterious and Paranormal. Romance. More than meets the eye. ******* Sgt. Barton Rucklesbee September 13, 1882 The following is an account sent to our office on the first of this month. The whereabouts of those listed in this document are currently unknown. Case Notes: Personally, I don't believe a word of this. It seems like a child's story to me. Best not to be taken too seriously. Read at your own folly as it is quite the elaborate tale and you may find yourself wasting the entirety of a day on it. Sgt. Barton Rucklesbee ******* Senseless: The Unnatural Case Of Miss Merritt Holbrook ******* Author's note: This is a novel I wrote for my undergraduate thesis. I studied the Victorian era/ genre and wrote a novel in the styles of "Dracula" and Leanna Renee Hieber's "Darker Still." There are a lot of sections but they are all fairly short. Also, it may not be perfectly edited. To the wonderful grammar wizards out there, don't worry about it. Just sit back and enjoy the story and characters, I'll deal with the grammar later. Thanks for reading! Enjoy. :) First Posted: August 31, 2018 {On the Wattpad featured list 9/20/18}

Book 1.5 - The Culled Crown Series. A Culled Crown Novella. Ten girls. Nine bodies. One crown. If given the chance to be queen, would you take it? Viera Kevlar is goddess-touched, one of ten female heirs to the Erydian throne. She is a poisoner, the first girl in the history of the Culling to ever be blessed with such an ability. Despite her own reservations and desires, she will have to fight for the crown. She may have to die for it. If she wins the Culling by killing the other nine candidates, then she will be crowned queen of Erydia. Her family will be invited to live in the palace and her mother might have access to healers who could save her life. But to be queen, she may have to lose the one thing she cares most about-- herself. This is a novella that acts as a prequel to Monroe Benson's story--"The Culled Crown." I would suggest reading that novel before reading this one. Although this story takes place before Monroe's Culling, this novella should be read between book one and book two.

The finale to The Culled Crown series. ***** Monroe Benson is a girl made of lies--a girl made of lies who fell in love with a boy who excelled at telling them. The son of a sailor, he'd said. A nobody. Liar. Beautiful liar. Shouldn't she have tasted those lies on his lips? Shouldn't she have known? And even if she hadn't seen it, hadn't thought to look deeper into his past, shouldn't he have told her? Liar. Liar. Lair. He should have been honest. All those nights they'd laid in bed together and he'd never even been who she'd thought he was. Lies. All of it lies. And what would she have done if he'd mustered the courage to tell her the truth? Would she have run from him? As Monroe finds herself imprisoned once more in Oredison Palace, the answers to those broken questions hardly seem to matter anymore. The Culling is not over. There are four girls left. Four girls, all of them goddess-chosen and goddess-blessed. And the crown is not finished with them. The whisper of that roiling, dark power in Monroe's blood has not dimmed, even with tacet suffocating it. The game is not over. That toxicant throne was not sated with the blood of a princess. The throne craves a queen. The goddess craves blood. Erydia craves a revolution. And to end it all...to end the Culling and change the world, the liar---the boy with the golden tattoos and the artist's hands---must die. May the goddess be honored.

The world changed. Gone are the days of drawing and dreaming of high school boys. What used to be childhood fantasies have come to life, birthed from deep in the earth to crawl their way up from no one knows where, causing destruction, death and chaos. Over the years Aiya's life was turned into something she both loved and hated. Her brother Marvin seemed made for the new world, even with its ever changing rules for survival. The question is whether the constant shifts in weather, new species (or monsters) and the alliances between people would ever stop changing and will Aiya and Marvin live to see that day. Errend wasn't sure who he could trust. He had a secret that desperately wanted to share yet humans had an uncanny ability to seem sincere to your face and then in the same heartbeat turn around and sell you out. However, without the help of Aiya and Marvin, he may have died long ago. Perhaps it was time to take a leap of faith.

People all say that Archangel is as safe as can be. You can ask anybody around. They'll tell you as much. That sleepy logging town is the kind of place where people spend their summers grilling down by the lake, and where they know their neighbor's name. Heck, just walk down any road in town and see how many folks wave to you as they drive past. You'd probably even get the same treatment from the guards down at the TARN Defense Industries labs. Just mind that you don't get too close to the gate. Oh, and try not to listen too closely to any sounds coming from the other side of the fence. With Archangel being the kind of small town that it is, no one knew how to make heads or tails of the Novak boy going missing. The Sheriff-being mostly TARN's Sheriff-blamed some kind of cult for the crime, on account of all the blood and the symbols carved into the trees where they found the kid's truck. Some people bought it. Some, but not all. See, people have questions-especially people like Brandon Jones. His sister, Amanda, went missing back in '99, and from what people around town are saying, he's got an itch to prove that those TARN people had something to do with whatever happened to both Amanda, and Thomas. Archangel being what it is, he might have a shot at it. But then again, he might not.
