When both Gwen and Merlin witness another accident caused by Morgana's magic, there is no more denying. Despite Gaius' strong advice against it, Merlin decides to help Morgana and tell her and Gwen about his magic. Meanwhile, Arthur follows Merlin to Morgana's chambers to inform him that he needs to let her rest and should absolutely not be bringing her flowers. Because she needs to rest. No other reason of course. Nope. Set in the episode 2x03 The Nightmare Begins.

Arthur Pendragon has always trusted his father's opinion of sorcery. He has witnessed, first hand, the atrocities Camelot's enemies could commit with the aid of magic. However, after Arthur, Morgana, and Gwen give shelter to a strange boy, Merlin, they find wandering the woods, Arthur begins to question all he knows. Will Arthur be able to protect Merlin from his dark past? I know what I just witnessed. I know what I saw. I saw magic as clear as day. I know I should report it. Have Merlin arrested for his treachery. Yet for some reason, I just can't picture an evil Merlin. And maybe that's why I just ignore this. Maybe that's why I never say anything. But I've decided to keep this big secret to myself. I think this is one worth keeping. Or where Leon see's Merlin do magic but accepts it.

It's just an ordinary in Camelot…well as normal as things get around here. Arthur and Merlin are out on a hunting trip by themselves and all seems well…until they are ambushed by a group of Morgana's men. The duo are separated, Arthur just escaping, but Merlin being caught. They take him back to Morgana, where she proceeds to torture him by twisting his memories. Every happy moment, every sad moment, every moment ever spent between Arthur and Merlin is twisted in Merlin's mind, causing him to believe that Arthur wants him dead. Eager to see Arthur's reaction, she lets Merlin go, making it seem that he escaped. When a search patrol finds him stumbling, weak, in the Valley of the Fallen Kings they approach him delightedly, glad to see he's safe. But when they learn the truth will things ever be the same between Merlin and Arthur again, or will he fear Arthur forevermore?

After Merlin is kidnapped on a hunting trip, Morgana casts a spell that forces Merlin to tell the truth. How will he keep his secrets from his friends? And when Morgana finally gathers the means to attack Camelot, what will Merlin do to stop it? This is a Merthur fic, but not primarily focused on Merthur. Doesn't really take place in a specific time, but Uther is dead. Lancelot is alive because he's a beautiful human being who didn't deserve his pain and I lowkey forgot to add Mordred in the beginning so he's working with Morgana for now.
