Granted, he felt some fear, like during horror movies that Hizashi, Midnight, and other colleagues subjected him to during movie night, but he was swift to hide it. It was common knowledge that the quirked were superior to the quirkless in every possible way. When his life there gets to the point of Inko abusing him as well, he takes Bakugou's advice and jumps off the school roof. But in doing so, he gained his quirk. So, with this quirk, he runs away and takes japan by storm and becomes the number one vigilante!
