She rolled up her long sleeves and scrutinized her entire reflection in the mirror Infront of her. She looked at the mirror, she gazed at her frail body, from her sleep-deprived eyes with dark circles underneath to the red marks trailing up her arms. Some of them had faded but the memories of the torment she suffered were fresh. The flashbacks flooded her mind, the devastating blow, the punches her bullies threw at her. She fell to her knees with the urge to pull out her hair in insanity, she was miserable but most of all crestfallen. She was in great distress which resulted to her abstemious behaviour. Blood-curdling shrieks, never-ending murmured pleas, lamenting excruciatingly as an echo. The beat of a heart tortuous: viciously slower, fainter, with the same ache each passing second. Engulfed in the darkness, the realms of my mind dulling, all consciousness dying. Consumed within a deafening silence. Lungs tightening, rising and falling with a burning sensation, struggling to suck the thick air in. Each bone frozen, muscled strained and lifeless, skin paling. Bloodshot, sleep deprived eyes, growing heavy as all hope flows out in the tears. The murderous prevailing hangover of a mentally challenged soul temporarily tamed by the inevitable thirst for slumber.

Her once blissful self had faded, now she was someone else, someone she couldn't recognise. She was a shell of the girl she used to be. No one knew what happened, what went on in her mind. But now, everyone had adapted to her neutral persona. She looked at the world as if it was bleak and grim. Her sleep deprived eyes were the result of the many nights she spent stuck in her head, enduring the torment of her mind. Her once bold fashion sense had turned into the now over abundant drab oversized hoodies and black skinny jeans. Her eccentric behaviour made everyone wonder why she lives in a world of her own, shutting everyone else out. She had been one known for living in a fantasy world. She would spend hours with her best friend writing and drawing to her hearts content, always sharing her art with the world. But one day, a drawing of hers fell to the ground, her best friend picked it up and was taken aback when she saw it. She had expected something enthralling and innovative but instead saw a broken broken heart, blood dripping as knives were deeply engraved on it as if a part of it. It was so realistic and dark, you could feel the emotions of pain and heartbreak clearly expressed. She was perplexed to say the least. After some time they took her to a therapist, weeks later they all found out, she had major depression. But why and how were the questions never answered. #1 in hurts out of 1.44k stories - 02/04/22 #8 in charisma out of 105 stories - 15/09/2021
