My eyes glazed over the tall boy, taking in every detail of his face. His expression was marked with concentration and vulnerability as he recalled the notes to the song. I took a step forward, resting my elbows on the large piano he was seated at, ignoring the people around it. I met the eyes of the musician, and it was as if, for a moment.. His eyes were not his typical icey-blue, it was as though they were the deep blue of an ocean. He hesitated as he noticed my presence, pausing ever so slightly before the next note of the song. It was barely noticeable. Nevertheless, he continued on, looking back down at the keys and going through with his song, as if it were a personal. When he had finished, the crowd broke into a delicate applause, careful not to spill their drinks. I waited for the boy to look up at me, to meet my eyes once again, but they remained on the keys to his precious instrument, as though he had never noticed me at all.
