[COMPLETED & BEING EDITED] "You're willing to risk your life for me? For us? Is that what you want?" She glared, grasping my shoulders gently and pushing me against the wall of the dark alley. The smell of alcohol and cigarettes swirling around me as I gazed into those violet eyes that make my knees go weak. I swallowed the lump in my throat and held up my head higher and faced this hardcore punk as if I was like her: Rebellious and reckless. "What I want is you. Everything else could go fuck themselves," I told her, seeing the way those violet eyes widened in shock in a quick second before they smiled, a grin spreading on her rosy pink lips. My heart fluttered as her face grew closer, tingles spread through my body just by her touches as she moved to my ear, biting my earlobe gently as she whispered, "I want you too." And my lips were instantly captured by hers... © Copyright 2014 All Rights Reserved

Crown Princess Leonore, heir to the queendom of Dranath, likes women, obviously. The Queen Mother Carmilla marries her off to Sir Gabriel, obviously. So when she finds out Sir Gabriel is a woman... Dranath; queendom of mystique, bordered by jealous allies. To the southwest, the states of Aurune. East is the coast and the maritime poleis of Raham. To the north, the Hierstag clans. Rich in land and crop and poor in everything else, the queendom is closed in from all fronts. And when the sword of years-long grudges is brought to bear, who will play it to the hilt? ------------------------------ i wanted to say that this book is my love letter to imperialism, but it's actually lovingly crafted hatemail non-anonymously submitted to imperialism's tumblr asks. this is an exploration of how much suffering one can propagate in order to achieve one's goal, and the degree in which your decisions can be justified (even only to yourself!) before you become, essentially, irredeemable; an exercise in Is It Worth It Though yeah there's magic(k) in this one. and a lot of geopolitics! might have gotten carried away with the geopolitics. come for the gay, stay for the political machinations. or come for the political machinations and stay for the gay, i dont mind. 3rd person pov, leonore-centric, no homophobia (at least, not the kind we usually see), i want to say butch/femme but honestly it's butch gabriel/whatever the hell leonore is. folk anti-hero narrative or villain origin story, you decide

Harlow Reaves has spent her entire life on the ice. Hockey was never just a sport - it was her identity, her future, the only thing she ever needed. With no close friends, no hobbies, and nothing outside the rink to hold onto, Harlow finds herself completely unmoored. Then there's Lotte Myers-Hill - her infuriatingly loud, sharp-tongued teammate with messy black hair and a talent for getting under Harlow's skin. Lotte seems fearless, the kind of person who takes up space without apologising for it. But the more Harlow sees the girl behind the bravado, the more she uncovers the cracks beneath the performance - the hidden hurt, the secrets, the loneliness that looks a little too familiar. And for the first time in her life, Harlow begins to wonder if maybe she doesn't have to lose herself alone.
