La casa del sol naciente pone en escena a Geri y Martin Croizen, una pareja de hermanos huérfanos que habitan, casi recluidos, una casa situada al borde de un frondoso olivar en la imaginaria localidad de Salem. Psicoterapeuta endurecida por la pérdida de sus padres, Geri empieza a tratar el caso de Mina, una adolescente que delata un patológico complejo de Electra, y cuyo hermano ha fallecido en circunstancias sospechosas. El lector tiene acceso -un acierto formal- a los diarios del hermano muerto, los cuales presentan una subtrama de amor rodeada de un aura sobrenatural que, sin carecer de interés propio, se alía con las demás historias para tejer un compleja red de oscuros vínculos familiares y afectivos, que no excluye una inquietante nota de violencia.
