Sweeney est un barbier de retour à Londres après avoir été enfermé dans une prison sous les ordres du Juge Turpin, il cherche à se venger et retrouver sa fille Johanna. En arrivant à Londres il rencontra Mme Lovett. Une femme tenant un restaurant de tourte (sans grand succès) Sweeney c'est donc. installé à l'étage de son restaurant pour tenir sa barberie. Mme Lovett après avoir dit à Sweeney que sa femme Lucie avait avaler du poison commença à ressentir des sentiments pour Sweeney , lui n'en avait pas car jamais personne ne pourra remplacer sa Lucie. Mais finira-t-il par lui aussi avoir des sentiments pour Mme Lovett ?
