(CURRENTLY UNDER EDITING AND REWRITING) In this fantasy story thing. Rimmon, a dammned sould crawling free from Hell's abyss, hurls himself into a suicidal gambit: to wrest a Zodiac Key from the iron grip of Draken, the unrivaled Dragon King shifter whose power shakes the earth. This is Rimmon's final, fragile thread of hope for liberation -- a plan forged in shadow and blood, teetering on the edge of ruin. But a deeper, treacherous hunger awakens within him, threatening to shatter his resolve. At the same moment, Draken exults in a triumph that sets his soul ablaze: the discovery of his Inner-Flame, the eternal bond he's chased through centuries of torment. Yet this same figure emerges as the dread sentinel of Hell's gates, a being of unfathomable terror and allure. Drawn by a scent that sings of destiny and doom, these two titans collide in a cataclysmic struggle to claim Rimmon as their own. Amid the wreckage of their war, one haunting question echoes: will Rimmon bow to their might--or rise to defy the very forces that would chain him forever?

Sam is the most promising swordsman among this year’s crop of Paladin trainees...and knows it. Brash, cocky, and unbeatable with a sword (well, almost), Sam is the kingdom of Thule’s best hope against the violence wrought by demons. The only problem is that Sam is really Lady Samantha, daughter of the seventeenth Duke of Haywood, and if her father has his way, she’ll be marrying a Paladin, not becoming one. But Sam has never held much interest in playing damsel-in-distress, and so she rescues herself from a lifetime of boredom and matrimonial drudgery. Pity that Tristan Lyons, the Paladin assigned to train her, is none other than the hero of her childhood. He hasn’t recognized her as Lady Samantha--yet-- but if he does, he’ll take away her sword and send her packing. Sam is not the only trainee hiding secrets: Braeden is a half-demon with a dark past that might be unforgivable. Sam, Braeden and Tristan set out for the western coast, charged with rooting out an infestation of demons that has made the West unlivable. As they travel, they uncover a deep-seated corruption of power that threatens to derail everything they stand for. Rebellion stirs, led by a rival faction of warriors who tempt Sam to join them with an irresistible offer. A war between men is coming, and Sam must pick a side. Will saving the kingdom cost her life -- or just her heart? Reminiscent of Mulan, but with a medieval fantasy twist, Paladin is a tale of adventure, action, and romance.

"Go! The gates are collapsing. You must take them now." The queen yells as the gate walls crumble. Sylvia takes the small baby boy from the Queen's hands. She looks at the Queen in quiet sorrow and then disappears into the Portal of Nations. Next comes Nuada. He gently cradles the baby girl in his hand, bowing to the Queen and now arriving blood-stained King before disappearing into the Portal of Nations. "What's going on out there?" The Queen asks, grasping her husband's hand. He shakes his head, a tear cascading down his cheek, "I am sorry, my Queen. The gates of Aycelan have fallen." The last of the gates give away and the army of Dyleguar advances on the King and Queen. The rest of the army of Aycelan are slain on the battlefield, littering the air with the smell of defeat. "Brother, I never thought I would able to overcome the army of Aycelan, but it seems as though I was mistaken," Lucius, the brother of the king, says riding in on a black ghost-like horse. "Take them to the prison house, under the castle of Aycelan," Lucius yells, pointing to the King and Queen. An Orc lifts the late rulers up, haphazardly swinging them over his shoulders. "Now, we should immediately rid Aycelan of it's filthy name and put Dyleguar in it's place. We have fought our way in, and now it is ours. Celebrate, my friends, because there is much to be done. Good day," Lucius walks off in the direction of the old rulers, his brother Ayron and his brother's wife Caeair.

Four teens. Four reasons to escape Daedalus Station--the dead end outpost of far flung empire. One derelict ship. One mistake that propels them halfway across the galaxy. Learning to work together as a crew may be the easy part because if the ship doesn’t kill them, the universe will. (Original cover art by Chris Howard, http://the0phrastus.typepad.com/) NEWS! Almost exactly one year from when I started writing DERELICT at Readercon 2012, the story has been revised and polished with wonderful feedback from my beta readers and my agent. It's going out on submission to editors and publishers beginning this coming week (mid June, 2013) and I couldn't be more thrilled! In preparation, I had to take the story down. My apologies for that, but as a consolation prize, I've updated the first three chapters to reflect the revised story and kept Chris Howard's amazing art to accompany them. Serializing the first draft of this story was a wonderful experience and I thank you, my readers, for your support and encouragement. Keep your fingers crossed for this one! And I'll keep you posted.
