Acornstar and Redwhisker, convinced that their adventures are now over, are put on edge by an old foe rising under a new flag. They are even more surprised by yet another companion of oddity joining them, adding to the ever-growing new minority of the Clans. Unfortunately this companion joins right into a sticky situation, and the eccentric crew must work to free him from the web of suspicion and treason before it consumes them all. These beliefs, though, are shattered by a chance meeting with someone who may be an even stranger anomaly than him. He's thrust into conflict, between Clans and between himself, as he questions his innermost expectations and realizes he's been playing the game wrong this whole time. The Four Clans have always acted on their predatory instincts. The food chain has been structured in a way that the predator hunts the prey, so the predator can survive. A change in events ruptures when a squirrel kit is taken into ShadowClan. ShadowClan is proud and cunning, but Shadedcloud is different. Shadedcloud grows as an individual, with a tender heart. Each time his heart is preyed on, it makes him realize his world is much darker than it seems from the outside.
