AURELIA ALVAREZ has been best friends with Eddie Diaz since birth. With their mothers being close, Lia and Eddie grew up knowing just about everything about the other, but there was always one thing Eddie didn't know about Lia, and that was that, since the age of fourteen, she's been hopelessly in love with him. But he, at the same age, met another, and years later, when reunited, Lia watched from the sidelines as her best friend married a woman she cares for, but also a woman she's envious of. Even when he became a father at nineteen, Lia's feelings never changed, but she always remained at his side, always remaining his "best friend". She was there when his wife left, when his son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, when he was in the army, when he struggled to make ends meet, and was even there when he makes a decision to move to Los Angeles. Taking a job at LA County Hospital as a nurse, supporting her best friend in his decision and journey to move, she consequently puts herself in a far worse position, her feelings only growing stronger the more time she spends with him, the more time she takes care of his son, and the more time she gets lost in this idea of hope.
