After falling off the train to his "death" Bucky Barnes is found by Hydra and the process of creating the winter solider begins. Many things that go on he will have no memory of in the future but as its happening its very real and he feels like it will never leave his mind. All Hydra wants is for him to break, and if he submits he may never see Steve again.

Bucky had been forced to live with Steve for the time being, Fury not allowing him to be anywhere near the rest of civilization until he was absolutely positive that Bucky was not a threat.
