Light was starting to gain feelings for L but after getting rejected light becomes depressed and stops working on the Kira case he eventually lost all interests in every thing and is questioning why he is alive, then he stops taking care of him self and more when L finds out that light is in this state of depression he's heart broken ( even though he rejected light in the first place- ) L ties to get light out of this terrible state of mind but as he is trying he realizes that he has grown fellings for light 0: umm you will have to read the book to find out the rest :)
