The border between the two kingdoms is considered to be sacred as it represents the change from day to night and there are many shrines on the border. Marinette is an interesting princess as she prefers to wearing pants than dresses and would rather be practicing with a sword or shooting a bow and arrow over attending balls. She also loves to cook and bake. She can also talk to the animals to some degree and her constant companion is Tikki, a kwami gifted to her by her mother. Adrien is a prince from the neighboring kingdom and they originally meet when they are young as he ran to a border shrine between the two kingdoms to hide from his guards. His constant companion is Plagg. They immediately hit it off and become friends.
