So, a few months ago I started to write this small funny little essay about why Mr Birling from An Inspector Calls is a boomer, and now, 4500 words later, here we are. I don't know how, or why for that matter, I wrote this, but it is written by a slightly depressed gen z kid who has strong political views, so like, just forewarning you. This is exactly what it says on the tin, why Mr Birling and the other characters of An Inspector Calls can link to modern-day society from the viewpoint of a gay gen z. Enjoy. The Inspector has made a huge impact on what is to come for the Birling family and Gerald Croft, but this time, he does not return. Eric Birling and Gerald Croft discover something new about themselves.

Eric couldn't bear losing Gerald. Not after they'd just gotten together. He'd do anything to get him back, even if it meant sailing across the world.

March, 1911. Throughout 'An Inspector Calls' the lives of the characters and all their crimes and idiocies are made known to the family by the Inspector. However, what if there were still some secrets left kept?

{We hear the sharp ring of a front door bell. Birling stops to listen.} "Somebody at the front door." Gerald is a respectable, well-bred man about town, or at least that's what he appears to be. Behind the scenes he is hidden and different, and his parents don't want someone like him ruining their reputation. So he leaves. When he finds himself at the Birling's household, he is welcomed in, even despite his actions towards Sheila, and he makes himself at home. However he doesn't expect to be sharing a room with Eric, the one boy he'd been crushing on all along. Even less, he doesnt expect those feelings to be requited. And when they are- can he resist the desire to leave everything behind for the love that they share?

Gerald helps Eric with the possible loss of his child and Eva. Sheila knows about Gerald and Eric but is keeping it a secret from their parents for now. Mrs Birling tries to uphold the family status after the Inspectors visit, while searching for a new man for Sheila.

Writing these fics is probably what gave me a grade 8 in GCSE English literature 🤠 Ya girl ain't doing a level eng lit so we're carrying on with these monstrosities
