the animal kingdom is a short story titled the 'fool, the horse and the eagle' adapted for use by primary school pupils as the 'animal kingdom'. the story is a satirical tale of how the horse and the eagle competed in a race with a foolish umpire in charge of proceedings. the horse won the race unexpectedly and since it was not the favorite of the powers that be in the jungle, the race was cancelled by the judge... the animal kingdom was written to bring the touching events of the June 12th presidential elections of 1993 in Nigeria back to memory and close to the young generations...
