this is a poem i wrote after spending an afternoon by a creek on the first day or two of fall. I hope you like it!

When she was younger, Eliora remembered how everyone imagined an apocolyptic world. She even gave in to the craving of curiosity and wrote stories about a girl named Margaret who was an excellent fighter. Now, she looks back on those days and thinks of how she had to become the Margaret in her stories. She had to in order to survive. See, Eliora lives in the days of the apocolypse, not by zombies, but by vampires. Before all the chaos happened, Eliora would have laughed at the idea, but now she knows better. Vampires are real and they are slaughtering the human race. Humans are almost an endangered species and Eliora is the queen gamepiece in this chess game. She never knew she would have such a massive role in the game, but fate will lead her to a destiny she will not be able to escape. (I'm going to be honest with you. The first part of the story follows Mikey as a young boy trying to cope with his father's drinking problem. He's able to thanks to his older sister but he might not be with her for as long as he hopes. The second part of the story is when Mikey is an adult and focuses primarily on him and his wife as well as his search for his sister. The story is told in past tense so be ready for a suprie ending when the story catches up to the present.
