La historia gira alrededor de Moomin y sus amigos junto a un nuevo individuo que a llegado al valle de una manera extraña. En su búsqueda por ayudar al nuevo amigo; abren un portal por el cual Sniff, Snufkin y Moomin viajan a otro plano y se encontrarán explorando nuevas tierras con nuevas aventuras, conociendo el amor y viendo que otros lugares son completamente diferentes que su hogar, enfrentando realidades crudas, realidades tristes y realidades alegres que son acompañadas por este nuevo mundo. "La tierra llora, pero ya está cansada de gritar"
